Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our treatments, appointments, and what to expect at BLAAH.

General

About BLAAH

What treatments do you offer?

We offer cosmetic skin treatments (chemical peels, LED light therapy, dermal stamping with exosomes, TempSure skin tightening), laser treatments (laser hair removal and laser skin treatments for pigmentation and redness), and non-surgical cosmetic medicine consultations. See our full treatment menu on our pricing page.

Do I need a consultation before treatment?

Yes. A face-to-face consultation is required before any cosmetic procedure at BLAAH. This allows your practitioner to assess your skin, take a medical history, discuss realistic outcomes, and ensure you can provide informed consent. For skin treatments such as chemical peels and LED light therapy, a brief assessment is included at the start of your first appointment.

How do I know which treatment is right for me?

Your practitioner will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and goals, and recommend a treatment plan tailored to you during your consultation. There is no obligation to proceed on the day, and we will never pressure you into a treatment you do not need.

What qualifications does your team have?

All cosmetic procedures at BLAAH are performed by AHPRA-registered practitioners. Our team includes Natalie Hoyle (Cosmetic Nurse and Clinic Director, AHPRA NMW0002801536) and Dr Niro Sivathasan (Cosmetic Physician, AHPRA MED0001769614), who holds fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

Are your treatments safe?

All treatments at BLAAH are performed by AHPRA-registered practitioners using medical-grade equipment and products. As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects, which your practitioner will discuss with you in detail before you proceed. We follow strict infection control and clinical protocols in line with current Australian healthcare standards.

Treatments

Treatments & Aftercare

Is there any downtime after treatment?

Downtime varies by treatment. LED light therapy and TempSure skin tightening have zero downtime — you can return to your usual routine immediately. Chemical peels may involve 2-5 days of mild peeling depending on the peel strength. Dermal stamping typically causes redness for 24-48 hours. Laser hair removal may cause mild redness for a few hours. Laser skin treatments for pigmentation may cause treated spots to appear darker for 7-14 days before fading. Your practitioner will explain the specific downtime for your treatment before you proceed.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies by treatment. Laser hair removal typically requires 6-8 sessions spaced 4-8 weeks apart. Chemical peels are often recommended as a course of treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Dermal stamping usually involves 3-6 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart. TempSure skin tightening typically requires 3-5 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart. LED light therapy is often done as a weekly course. Your practitioner will recommend a personalised treatment plan during your consultation.

Can I combine treatments?

Yes, many treatments complement each other. For example, our Event Glow package combines a chemical peel with LED light therapy. Dermal stamping includes LED light therapy as part of the session. However, certain treatments need to be spaced appropriately for safety and effectiveness. Your practitioner will advise on the best combination and timing for your goals.

What should I do before my appointment?

Preparation depends on the treatment. For laser hair removal, shave the treatment area 24 hours before and avoid waxing, plucking, or sun exposure for 4-6 weeks prior. For chemical peels, avoid retinol and active skincare for a few days beforehand. For most other treatments, no specific preparation is needed. Your practitioner will provide detailed pre-treatment instructions when you book.

What aftercare is required?

Aftercare varies by treatment but generally includes applying SPF 50+ daily, avoiding direct sun exposure, and using gentle skincare products for a few days. For treatments like chemical peels and laser procedures, you will be advised to avoid active ingredients (retinol, AHAs, BHAs) for 5-7 days. Your practitioner will provide specific aftercare instructions tailored to your treatment.
